WHS Girls' Basketball coach, Rodney Scharboneau is pictured with WBSD Athletic Director, Dave Fast, after receiving his grant for the "WHS Girls' Basketball Charity." In his grant application, Coach Scharboneau stated, "Each season, the players and coaches from our WHS girls basketball team volunteer their time to travel to an elementary school in the inner city of Detroit to provide a free basketball camp to the kids at the school. If we were granted this money, we would use it to purchase t-shirts and basketballs for the kids and bring the items when we come to run the camp. That would be a first for many of the kids who attend - to get a new t-shirt and have a few new basketballs to play with in their gym. I get excited just writing about it!" The camp is usually held in early November.
